Ever since the dresscode change, more girls have been wearing pants and blouses. I really like Meggie Bromberg and Danielle Tartaro outfits for the last formal dinner, they are both wearing cute tops with blazers and pumps.

Last formal dinner I wore a maxi skirt from BCBG, an orange top from a thrift store, and black heels that I borrowed from Bailey Summers. It was one of my favorite of my formal dinner outfits this year.

So it has been a while....

Not that anyone looks at this anymore, but to those of you it may concern. I have graduated :’(

So as I move forward to bigger, and (maybe) better things, I leave my blog behind with hopes that it will live on through other students. Of course, I felt the need to keep it in the family, so with any luck Hanna and Maddie will do it justice and inspire you all to dress your best every day.

Don’t worry, Cornell has a fashion blog.

Just some last notes from Prom. I really loved Emma Merrill’s dress and shoe combo. The yellow pump is adorable and perfect for spring.

I also thought Eleanor’s dress looked stunning against her skin-tone, and the gold straps perfected the look.

Eli’s dress was from All-Saints, and I’m obsessed with it. The whole thing is beaded and the pattern is so intriguing.

Another note about the Prom posts, I did borrow some photos off Facebook because I was a little distracted from taking my own photos that night.

Matching at Prom, it’s an essential. Looking like a couple and cohesive piece is more important to some at Prom then others.

Ali and Kevin were probably the best example of matching with Kevin in a shirt the same color as her dress.

Lena and Mat looked perfect for each other in a less obvious way than Ali and Kevin. Mat’s soft color pallette compliments Lena’s cream dress much more than a sharp suit.

Elena and Jamie didn’t go together but their colors compliment each other, and they are going to school next year together, and it’s a great photo so I thought I would include it. Elena looked stunning in the pastel seafoam. It’s such a great color for her skin, and the shape is so soft and beautiful. Jamie of course looks classy in his printed bow-tie and cumberbun.

Gabe and I opted to keep things less Prom and more red-carpet. I wore a red silk dress from Candela, gold Sak’s earrings, and Zoe did my hair. Gabe looked like a stud in his dark suit and red pocket square.

The gold details from Zoe’s dress (it’s from Aqua) and the gold color of Sara’s dress (Nicole Miller) compliment each other perfectly. These seniors both look absolutely stunning in their dresses. Sara looks straight out of Hollywood in her curve hugging gown, and Zoe always sparkles in her new-age preppy style.

Here are just some snapshots of cool shoes from Prom. There were lots of heels, ranging from bright and funky to sparkly and delicate. I really love the white dress shoes (I think they were Rob’s).

Bow-Ties were clearly the way to go this year at Prom. Noah Leader, Aldin, Royce, Lorenzo, Davis, Will, and Nam all looked sharp sporting dark jackets and bow-ties. Nam looked particularly stylish in a blue suit, blue kicks, and dark collar with a light bow-tie. He outshone many of the rented tuxes and sport coats.

Paige got these earrings from Rent-the-Runway. I’m pretty much obsessed with them. Her whole look from the dark make up, fierce hair, and black leather dress was completely sexy and full of spunk. Typical Paige.

CFDA Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), is probably the most recognized and prestigious group of models, fashion designers, editors, photographers, and all around fashionistas. Everyone wants a CFDA Award, from Fashion Icon of the Year to Lifetime Achievement Award to Best New Upcoming Designer to just an invitation to the ceremony.

The current president is Diane von Furstenberg, and this year the awards are predicted to be one of the strongest years. It shows that despite hard times and the current economy people still love fashion. It’s something people connect with on every level and should be celebrated. This year the host is Seth Meyers, and it will be held at the LIncoln Center on June 4th.

There were some requests to be in the fashion blog, sorry that it’s overdue, but here it is. The boys all exemplify the classic Millbrook look, in their ties and coats. Some dare to sport plaid or gray coats instead of the typical navy blue.

The girls, Sayre, Alden, Mansell, and Grace are the epitome of casual formal in their neutral wedges (Sayre in flat sandals), and light, playful dresses.

Last formal dinner I wore head-to-toe orange, well except for a pair of pink pumps. The pants are from J.crew and a favorite of mine. The shirt is Tory Burch and was borrowed from Phoebe Walker, the gold belt is a vintage piece I picked up a couple years ago, and the pumps are Steve Madden. I kept my hair in a simple straight ponytail because the outfit was really the center piece. It’s really fun wearing an unusual and BRIGHT color…

Josh Webb and Sebastian Macaya out shone any of the other boys at Formal Dinner last week with their wooden bow ties. Bow ties are a great choice in general, but these are particularly fashionable. I’m curious as to where these boys stumbled upon such fashion forward and ridiculously cool accessories.

Collars are a huge part of dress code at any prep school. Boys and girls are required to wear them, whether that means a button up, a polo, a military collar, peter pan collar, or turtle neck, something has to be framing your neck.

Now most kids submit to this demand but on occasion you get the fighter. Girls have tried scarves and claiming their dress-skirt combos are actually dresses to get out of wearing their collars, but there has been a new way to work with this rule. It’s not eliminating it, but rather, enhancing it. Girls have been making the collar on their shirt the center piece of their outfits. Studs, jewels, leather, lace, have all been coating the collars around campus. The girls on campus are using their creativity to create the guidelines set by Millbrook dress code into a unbelievably stylish statement
